In order to simulate the real conditions encountered during leak detection and monitoring, a real field trial network has been created in Crescentino in the Northern Italy. Pipes have been deployed following variable altimetry in order to allow testing of air valves and outlets in lower and higher points.

The hydraulic load is guaranteed by one of the well field pumps used for water distribution to CCAM customers. The inlet pressure can be modulated through the operation of a PRV Pressure Reduction Valve. In this way it is possible to test different leakage detection and monitoring equipment under variable conditions.

The network is made by a ring pipeline with several radial pipes that can be isolated trough the operation of section valves and where several type of leaks are simulated.
